Rajat Patidar, the new captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, will be under pressure in the Indian Premier League 2025. He will lead an IPL franchise for the first time, and Virat Kohli’s presence could force him to consider his leadership qualities.

Aakash Chopra said that Patidar has a big opportunity to establish himself as a long-term skipper for the RCB.

“Rajat has the biggest opportunity to show his captaincy skills. He did well as a skipper of Madhya Pradesh. RCB said that they are planning for the next five years. However, do they actually mean it? There is a doubt,” he said.

Bengaluru have made it to the finals on three occasions but has failed to win a title. Aakash highlighted the pressure Patidar would face due to Virat Kohli’s presence in the squad.

“He should not think what Virat Kohli would have done in a particular situation. When a player of such stature is in the team, you try to copy his style.

“Rajat should make his own way. You don’t have to captain like Virat Kohli. Kohli is a part of the team anad he will help you for sure. Rajat can create history and he can do what has not happened to date,” he added.
