Former India player Navjot Singh Sidhu spoke to Venkatesh Iyer after the Kolkata Knight Riders’ win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025. The veteran opener wanted to know about the party by the franchise to celebrate their victory at Eden Gardens, but the southpaw gave a mature reply. KKR were impressive against the visiting team and registered an 80-run win to take their points tally to 4 from 4 matches in the 18th season. Batting first, the three-time champions posted 200/6 in the allotted 20 overs and dismissed the rivals on a score of 160 runs.

Venkatesh scored an aggressive fifty-plus score, while Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Ajinkya Rahane and Rinku Singh also chipped in with important knocks.

In the bowling department, Varun Chakravarthy and Vaibhav Arora took three wickets each for the Knight Riders, with the latter winning the Player of the Match award. “We have won just one match. Despite the presence of DJ Bravo in our team, we don’t party too much. It is important to take the momentum forward, as this win was much needed,” he said on Star Sports.

Sidhu was impressed by Iyer’s maturity. “I liked his statement that they have won just one match. He is not taking anything for granted. He knows it is important to stop the danger before it actually arrives. He has matured as a cricketer,” Sidhu said.

Former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo is the mentor of the Kolkata-based franchise.
