Team India’s assistant coach Abhishek Nayar has reacted to Jasprit Bumrah’s availability for the third and final Test against New Zealand, starting on November 1 at the Wankhede Stadium. The team management has been careful regarding the speedster’s workload. He played the two Tests against Bangladesh and has played the same number of matches with the Kiwis. Nayar mentioned that Bumrah hasn’t bowled much in the ongoing series.
“Jasprit Bumrah hasn’t bowled a lot in the series and has got ample rest. He is an important part of the team, and we know that it is important to take care of his workload,” he said.
“There will be assistance for the pacers in the morning session at the Wankhede. You want to see smiles on the faces of the fast bowlers,” he added.
In four Tests in the home season, he has taken 14 wickets, with the best figures being 4/50. It would be interesting to see how his workload is managed in the lead-up to the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The five-match series between Australia and India will start on November 22, and Bumrah will play a key role for the visitors.
Abhishek Nayar confirmed that the team hasn’t demanded any addition to the squad for the third Test against New Zealand. Earlier, there were reports that Harshit Rana had joined the team and could make his debut. “No one has joined us, and our focus is on the third game. We are not thinking about the World Test Championship.”
