Mumbai Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav became the fastest Indian to reach 4000 runs in the Indian Premier League’s history. He set the record in 2714 balls during the team’s IPL 2025 game against Lucknow Super Giants.

He went past Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and is now ranked third overall behind RCB legends AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle, who reached the landmark in 2658 deliveries. David Warner (2809 balls) and Suresh Raina (2881 balls) complete the list of the top five batters.

The right-handed batter needed 33 runs in the match to script the feat, and he achieved it by hitting a four on Avesh Khan’s delivery in the 13th over. Playing in his 160th IPL contest, SKY has hit two hundreds and 26 fifties, with a strike rate of 146 in the cash-rich league. De Villiers (151.68) and Gayle (148.96) have a better strike rate in the elite club.

Suryakumar also surpassed Mumbai’s legendary all-rounder Kieron Pollard’s runs for the franchise. He is the third MI batter to score over 3000 runs. Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard have achieved the milestone in the past. The 34-year-old also completed 150 sixes for the five-time champions.

SKY joined Mumbai in 2012 but played just one game. He then moved to the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014 and stayed there until 2017. However, his return to Mumbai Indians in 2018 changed his career. He is one of the most destructive batters in the tournament.
