MS Dhoni has led Chennai Super Kings to five titles, with the last one coming in 2023. He has lost his captaincy magic, and despite returning as the leader of the franchise in the ongoing 18th season, the Men in Yellow are at the bottom of the points table after eight matches.

Their recent contest against the Mumbai Indians exposed the shortcomings of Chennai. Dhoni’s team lost the match by 9 wickets in 15.4 overs while defending 176 runs.

Harbhajan Singh, who played for the team, made a controversial statement on the captaincy of the franchise. He mentioned that Suresh Raina should have been CSK’s captain, as he played for them for 15 years.

“Suresh Raina should have played for another three years for Chenani Super Kings. He was not backed by the team mamagement, leading to his retirement. Raina should have been their captain as he represented them for 15 years. He was the vice-captain of the franchise but didn’t get a chance to lead the team,” he said.

Bhajji is confident that Chennai will not make it to the playoffs in the current edition.

“I am sure that Chennai Super Kings will not qualify for the playoffs. The game has changed and move forward. You can’t just rely on spinning tracks of Chennai. To win the IPL, you will have to start winning outside home as well,” he added.
