Gautam Gambhir’s All-Rounder Strategy Hurting Kuldeep Yadav? Doda Ganesh Takes a Dig. Team India’s new head coach, Gautam Gambhir, seems to prefer including more all-rounders in the playing XI, a strategy that is seemingly affecting the selection chances of specialist spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Gambhir’s approach focuses on maintaining a strong balance between batting and bowling by fielding multi-skilled players.
Reacting to this, former Indian pacer Doda Ganesh took a jibe on social media, saying,
“Kuldeep Yadav should now bat in the top 3 in the Ranji Trophy so that he can make it into Team India as an all-rounder. I don’t see any other way he can break into the current team setup.”
Ganesh’s sarcastic comment came during the second Test match between India and England in Birmingham, where India picked Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Kumar, and Washington Sundar — all three being all-rounders — while Kuldeep Yadav was left out of the squad.
This selection reflects Gambhir’s strong inclination towards all-rounders, but it also raises concerns about the future of specialist bowlers who may not contribute much with the bat.
