India recently won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai. Rohit Sharma’s team defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets in the final to lift the trophy for the third time since its inception. The captain led from the front, amassing 76 runs off 83 balls at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. He was named the Player of the Match for his effort. In the 2024 T20 World Cup final, senior batter Virat Kohli played a match-winning innings and was adjudged the Player of the Match. Virat and Rohit have been the team’s biggest match-winners, and their presence has removed pressure on other players.

Kohli was the Men in Blue’s second-highest run-getter in the Champions Trophy with 218 runs in five matches. He scored an unbeaten 100 and 84 against Pakistan and Australia, winning the best player of the match award twice. Although he failed in the finale, his contributions in the previous contests can’t be ignored.

Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is one of Kohli’s biggest admirers, put him ahead of the great Sachin Tendulkar after his display in the Champions Trophy.

“Virat Kohli is India’s biggest hero in the last 30-40 years. He is above Sachin Tendulkar. Virat is a role model and knows how to win matches. His pull shot, on-drive, and cover drive are a treat to watch. He showed us how to win in overseas countries.

“We started dominating in the away series under his captaincy. He played a part in developing fast bowlers, and the Indian team played with five genuine bowlers during his time as a skipper,” he said on Star Sports.
