Gautam Gambhir was a lively and aggressive character who liked to take on the rival players during his active days as a batter. He was a part of several fights with opposite numbers during his international and domestic career.

His altercations with Shane Watson, Shaheen Afridi, Shoaib Akhtar, Virat Kohli, and S Sreesanth are well documented. Former India batter Aakash Chopra recently revealed that Gambhir was short-tempered and never had any control over his anger.

He also narrated an incident where the southpaw fought with a truck driver.

Meanwhile, Gambhir also shed light on his nasty fights. In his conversation with Virat Kohli ahead of the Bangladesh Test series, he admitted that he loved his fights with the players as it motivated him to give his best on the field.

“I enjoyed taking on the rival players as it motivated me to give my best and win games for the country. The exchanges I had on the field proved to be beneficial for me rather than breaking or impacting my confidence. I became more determined to keep going after sharing words with the opposite numbers,” he said.

Gambhir will expect the same from the Indian players when they start the home season with five-day games against Bangladesh.
