Veteran New Zealand batter Kane Williamson has shown confidence in Hardik Pandya ahead of IPL 2025. He believes the Mumbai Indians captain will perform well after experiencing both highs and lows in his career recently.
Pandya had a tough season in IPL 2024 after replacing Rohit Sharma as Mumbai Indians’ captain. However, he made a strong comeback in the T20 World Cup 2024, playing a key role in India’s victory. He was also crucial in India’s Champions Trophy win this year.
Speaking about Pandya’s journey, Williamson said difficult phases are part of every player’s career. He believes these experiences will help Pandya succeed in the upcoming season.
Kane Williamson on Hardik Pandya
“Hardik has been around for a long time. He has seen many highs and some lows. These experiences help players during pressure or when things are not going well. He has shown great leadership and delivered strong performances in big games. He has been great to watch.”
Williamson also recalled his time at Gujarat Titans under Pandya’s captaincy. He enjoyed playing under him and is confident about the Mumbai Indians’ chances in IPL 2025.
“It was a pleasure to play alongside him at Gujarat Titans. Mumbai Indians have strong leaders and many talented Indian players. They will be a strong team in the competition.”
Mumbai Indians had a poor IPL 2024 season, finishing last in the points table. They have brought back Mahela Jayawardene as head coach to improve their performance, replacing Mark Boucher.

“He will have a big impact again, like in almost every season. Players go through different career stages, but his hunger and passion remain the same. We have seen that in his recent performances. He is highly motivated to win the title for RCB.”
Kohli won the Orange Cap in IPL 2024. Royal Challengers Bengaluru are still waiting for their first title.
