India defeated England by 434 runs in the third Test to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. Former India head coach Ravi Shastri lauded the young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal following his second double hundred in the Rajkot Test; it was his second double ton in the series, with the first one coming in the previous game in Vizag. He had to retire after suffering from back spasms on Day 3 on an individual score of 104 runs.

He returned on day four and slammed an unbeaten 214 runs to take India’s total to 430/4 in the second innings. Shastri said that Yashasvi reminds him of young Sachin Tendulkar.

“I am impressed with the way he has batted in his career. Not just with the bat, he will contribute with the ball in the near future. He will be Rohit Sharma’s go-to man. You would see him bowling. He is like Sachin Tendulkar, who was ready to do anything for the team,” Ravi Shastri said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

“If you believe in yourself, there is nothing you can’t do. Nothing is impossible. Yashasvi will be involved,” he added.

India set an impossible target of 557 runs for England, but the visitors were bowled out for 122. Ravindra Jadeja, who scored a hundred in the first innings, took five wickets.

It was England’s worst batting effort in the three games so far. England won the first Test by 28 runs in Hyderabad, while India thumped the visiting team by 106 runs in the second.
