Sunil Gavaskar is expecting Mohammed Siraj to unleash a bouncer barrage on Australian batters in Brisbane after facing some during the pink-ball Test at the Adelaide Oval. Gavaskar wasn’t surprised that Siraj had a tough time against bouncers in the previous game.
Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Scott Boland tested Indian tailenders with short-pitched stuff and were successful in dismissing them. While Siraj didn’t get out on a bouncer, he got one from Cummins.
“Siraj bats at no. 10, and he will struggle against bouncers, and there is no doubt about that. You can’t blame him for that. I think the Australians were charged up when he came out to bat and went after him. I don’t think he was bothered by that.
“When he will have the ball in his hand in Gabba, he will give it back to the Australians in the same fashion,” Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports.
Siraj had a verbal slugfest with Travis Head after the latter was dismissed. The batter scored 140 runs off 141 balls and even abused the Indian pacer after he was given a fiery send-off. India lost the match by 10 wickets. India defeated Australia the last time the two teams competed in Brisbane.
