Interested German customers were provided their first look at the new-generation Land Cruiser at the 20th Bush Taxi Meeting back in September. Reservations for the new-generation Land Cruiser opened at 8 a.m. on December 21, only for them to close just 30 minutes later as the initial batch was already spoken for. Interested parties must now register on a waiting list.

Three versions of the Land Cruiser are available in Germany; the Executive, Tec, and the First Edition. The company has not specified how many of each trim will be included within the initial allocation of 1,000 cars but Toyota has previously confirmed that Europe-wide, the Land Cruiser First Edition will be capped at 3,000 units. German deliveries won’t start until the third quarter of 2024.

Underpinning the EU-spec 2024 Land Cruiser is Toyota’s global GA-F platform which claims to be 50% stiffer than the one in the previous-generation model. European models will initially be sold with a 2.8-liter turbodiesel rated at 201 hp and coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission. A mild-hybrid diesel with a 48-volt system will follow in 2025. In the U.S., the new Land Cruiser is offered with a much punchier turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder hybrid that packs 326 hp and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque.

All German models are well equipped but the Tec Edition and First Edition benefit from several extra features, including Toyota’s new decoupling front stabilizer bar, 20-inch alloy wheels, a digital rearview mirror, a JBL premium audio package, 14-speakers, and a head-up display.
