RCB captain Faf du Plessis was not pleased with how the top order batted against Lucknow Super Giants. The home team lost the contest by 28 runs despite winning the toss and inviting the rivals to bat first. Faf considered taking advantage of the flat track, but the LSG bowlers quickly undid Virat Kohli, Cameron Green, and Glenn Maxwell. Even Faf was a walking wicket and failed to lead the team from the front.

Mayank Yadav didn’t allow the RCB batters to score runs and took three key wickets to completely put the hosts out of the contest. Maxwell and Green were beaten by Yadav’s pacer and lost their wickets. Rajat Patidar was his third wicket of the day. In the post-match presentation ceremony, Faf said LSG were 10-15 runs short but still won.

“I think the target was within the reach. We conceded a lot of runs in the powerplay overs, but the bowlers brought us back in the middle and death overs. It was an excellent effort to restrict Lucknow on 181. They were 10-15 runs short.

“Our top order didn’t fire again with the bat, and we lost the game. There are a lot of big characters in the dressing room, and they will have to put their hands up to complete the job for the team. The batters will have to bat more responsibly in the remaining games,” he said.
