Recently, Chennai Super Kings spinner Ravichandran Ashwin accused CSK, saying that in IPL 2025 the franchise had bought South African aggressive batter Dewald Brevis “under the table.”
According to Ashwin, replacement players should be signed at their base price, but Brevis and his agent demanded extra money, which CSK approved. He said this practice is followed by several teams, but it goes against IPL rules, and both the player and the franchise could be punished for it.
Now, Chennai Super Kings have given a strong reply to Ashwin.
CSK released a press statement saying that they followed IPL rules while signing Dewald Brevis for ₹2.20 crore as a replacement for the injured player Gurjapneet Singh. In the IPL auction, Gurjapneet was bought for ₹2.20 crore, and the same amount has been given to Brevis.
