Rishabh Pant hasn’t been impressive for his new franchise, Lucknow Super Giants, in the Indian Premier League 2025. He registered his maiden fifty after failing in the previous six games. However, Pant’s effort went in vain as Chennai Super Kings won the match by 5 wickets in 19.3. The southpaw amassed 63 runs off 49 balls, packed with 4 fours and 4 sixes. His strike rate of 128.57 was questioned by former India player Pragyan Ojha. He felt Pant should have adopted a more aggressive approach to take the away from the rivals.

“I feel he should have hit a few more shots to accelerate the scoring rate. He struggled a lot in the middle overs, and despite some big shots in the death overs, the team couldn’t reach a challenging total,” Ojha said on the broadcasting Channel.

To make matters worse for Pant, the BCCI will punish him for the second time in the 18th season of the tournament. His franchise was again found guilty of not finishing the overs on time. Lucknow was sanctioned by the umpires as they were allowed to place four fielders instead of five outside the thirty-yard circle in the last two overs of the match against CSK.

Pant has already been fined INR 12 lakh after Lucknow couldn’t complete the overs against Mumbai Indians at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

He will now be fined INR 24 lakh, and the rest of the members of the team, including the impact substitute, will shell out INR 6 lakh or 25% of their match fee, whichever is lesser.

Pant changes fielding after every over and is also seen giving instructions to the fielders after every delivery. He takes time to make bowling changes.
