Aakash Chopra has revealed his list of the top five T20I fast bowlers of 2024. Jasprit Bumrah and Shaheen Shah Afridi were not included.
Chopra kept 10 T20Is as a condition, and the quality of the rival teams was also considered. Haris Rauf was given the No.5 slot.
“He is at No.5. Haris Rauf took wickets against India, New Zealand and Australia. In 17 matches, he picked up 27 wickets at an average of 19 and an economy of nine,” he said
Lockie Ferguson of New Zealand was kept at No.4 position. “Lockie Ferguson is at No.4. He played 10 matches and claimed 20 wickets at an economy of 4.88 and an average of 9.25,” he added.
Matheesha Pathirana was also included. “At No. 3, I have put Matheesha Pathirana. He has picked up 28 scalps in 16 games at an economy rate of 7.67 and an average of 13.25.”
Abbas Afridi was in the second spot. “I haven’t included Shaheen Shah Afridi but Abbas Afridi is a part of my list. He is No.2 as he amassed 30 wickets in 18 matches at an economy of 8.5 and an average of 14.96.”
The top spot went to Arshdeep Singh.” Arshdeep Singh is my No. 1 for picking up 36 wickets in 18 matches at an economy of 7.49 and an average of 13.5. He was magnificent for Team India,” he concluded.
Aakash Chopra mentioned that Jasprit Bumrah wasn’t given a place because he played eight T20Is in 2024. He didn’t consider Shaheen Shah Afridi because of his performance against big teams. The left-arm seamer took 36 wickets.
