LSG captain KL Rahul threw young Ravi Bishnoi under the bus, blaming the young player for his team’s defeat against the Delhi Capitals. Rahul said that Bishnoi dropping Jake Fraser-McGurk’s catch was the reason the hosts were defeated at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow, on Friday, April 12.
Lucknow’s 13-match winning streak, during which they scored 160+ runs at home, was finally snapped by DC, who trumped Lucknow by 6 wickets. It was Delhi’s second win in IPL 2024.
Rahul said that Jake Fraser-McGurk and Rishabh Pant took the game away from his franchise.
“We do a lot of work before a game to read the situation and what kind of total is needed if we bat first. It is important to execute all those plans on the field. We managed to dismiss David Warner early and were in the game till the 10th over of their chase. However, we dropped the catch, and then Rishabh-McGurk took the game away from us. We saw a few videos of McGurk, but he hit the ball very well,” Rahul said.
The skipper didn’t take the name, but he blamed Bishnoi for the loss.
Prithvi Shaw (32_ and David Warner (8) couldn’t carry on for a long time, but Pant and Fraser-McGurk hit fours and sixes to take their team to a comfortable win.
Fraser-McGurk scored a fifty and stitched a 77-run stand with Pant, who scored 41 from 24 balls.
KL Rahul lauds Kuldeep Yadav
Rahul said that LSG were 15–20 runs short. He lauded Kuldeep Yadav, who picked up 3 wickets and was named the Player of the Match. He got rid of Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, and Rahul.
Injury update on Mayank Yadav
Rahul also updated about Mayank Yadav’s injury, who has missed two games so far.
“He is looking good, but we don’t want to rush him as it could lead to another injury. He should get hundred percent fit before returning to the field. His injury is not serious, and he will be good to go in a few days,” KL Rahul said.
