Shreyas Iyer was the second-highest run-getter in the ODI series against England, with 181 runs coming from his bat. He played an attacking brand of cricket and didn’t allow the English batter to settle down, taking on the pacers and spinner Adil Rashid.

He looked confident through the assignment and was also named the Best Fielder of the Series for his catching and ground fielding. The batter revealed that he worked on his technique to make sure there was no problem while playing bouncers.

Former India player Sanjay Bangar hailed the middle-order batter for his confidence and abilities in a special way. “If you are Amitabh Bachchan, I am also Manoj Bajpayee. This is what Iyer would tell others. He is full of confidence and trusts his abilities. The way he walks shows that this guy has got a lot of self-belief.

“Earlier, he used to play the short ball to the off side, but he is not doing it anymore. He is now targeting the on-side of the wicket. If the short ball is difficult to hit, he taps it to take a single,” he said on Sports 18.

Shreyas will play a key role at the No.4 slot in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
