Virat Kohli is giving his best as a fielder in Australia’s second innings of the fourth Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. He is constantly giving suggestions to Rohit Sharma, and it seems he is back as captain of the team.
He was not in the slip cordon and was seen running to the bowlers and Rohit. Former England player Mark Nicholas was amused to see Kohli’s energy and passion. “It seems Virat Kohli is back as India captain with the way he is leading the players.
“He is super animated today, and this is how he has been over the years. He is not leaving a chance to make two Australians out there in the middle uncomfortable,” he said.
Sanjay Manjrekar compared Kohli with Javed Miandad. “Look at Vira Kohli. He has got a child-like enthusiasm. Javed Miandad was like that in his career. When he was Pakistan’s vice-captain with Imran Khan leading the side, there was hardly a moment when he didn’t go to the skipper to give suggestions. Imran didn’t like it and sent him to third man region to stop him from giving ideas after every ball,” he said.
The same energy and passion are lacking in Kohli’s batting as he hasn’t been to lead the runs tally in the five-Test series, with just one hundred to his name.
