Mohammad Amir has been magnificent for Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The pacer has taken wickets in every match in his first major tournament after coming out of retirement. In the latest game against Canada, the veteran was named the Player of the Match for contributing to Pakistan’s first win.

He reflected on the Men in Green’s below-par performance against the United States of America and India. The 2009 champions lost two back-to-back contests. While the USA shocked the Babar Azam-led team in Super Over, India didn’t allow them to chase 120 runs in New York.

He spoke to Harbhajan Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu after the proceedings against Canada at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.

“It was good to contribute to the team’s first win. We players can do what is in our control. There is no point in thinking about the results of other teams for our Super 8 chances.

“We could have defeated India in a one-sided match as things were in our control, but we didn’t capitalize on their early dismissal. We allowed the game to drift away from us. The same thing happened against the United States of America.

“We came back into the game but couldn’t close it. Had we won those two games, the situation would have been different. However, we will have to take care of our last game in the tournament,” he said on Star Sports.

Amir futters shed light on his bowling display against Canada.

“The idea was to bowl in the right areas and set up batters. I kept things simple and got the reward,” he added.

Pakistan will play against Ireland in their last league match on June 16.
