Wasim Akram has a strong connection with Australia, having played a big role in Pakistan’s only ODI World Cup triumph over here. His wife also hails from Australia and he keeps visiting the place. However, all is stardom and popularity couldn’t come to his rescue during the ongoing Test between Pakistan and Australia in Perth.

Wasim Akram was stopped twice by security to have his accreditation checked while commentating for Fox Cricket.

The security personnel couldn’t recognised a cricketer with more than 900 international wickets.

“He said, ‘show me your accreditation’, and I did,” Akram told Fox Cricket.

“He said, ‘no show it again, I didn’t see your picture.’ So I said, ‘here we go again buddy’.”

Michael Vaughan, who is also a part of the commentary panel for the ongoing series, asked: “So you’re just going to wear your card all day now?”

Meanwhile, Pakistan finished the day with 152/2 with Imam-ul-Haq 38) and Khurram Shahzad (7) at the crease.

Abdullah Shafique (42) and Shan Masood (30) lost their wickets.
