“Virat Kohli should be India’s Test captain, not weak Rohit Sharma”: S Badrinath

After India’s embarrassing defeat against South Africa in the first Test, skipper Rohit Sharma is under the scanner for his leadership skills. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Subramaniam Badrinath has questioned why Virat Kohli isn’t leading the Indian Test team despite his great record.

Badrinath pointed out that Virat Kohli, who has scored over 5000 runs as a Test captain at an average of over 52, has 40 wins and 17 losses in 68 Tests, and led India to a historic Test series victory in Australia.

He compared Kohli with Rohit and expressed concerns over Rohit’s inconsistent performance as an opener outside India. “Kohli is an exceptional Test captain with over 5000 runs, 40 wins, and 17 losses in 68 Tests. He led the team to a remarkable victory in the Australia series and has the fourth-most wins as Test captain,” Subramaniam Badrinath said on his YouTube channel.

“Why isn’t Virat Kohli the Test team captain? He’s a better Test batter than Rohit. Why is a weaker player leading instead of him? Although Rohit Sharma has been in and out, he’s a big player and has scored runs everywhere. But he hasn’t proven himself as an opener outside India. So, why is he there?”Badrinath added.
