On January 16, India’s star player Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma received the invitation to attend the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22. This event would mark the ceremonial installation of Ram Lalla’s idol at the grand temple. Before Virat, former cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni also recieved the invitation for the grand event.

Notably, Virat, who was in Indore for the 2nd T20I against Afghanistan, travelled to Mumbai to recieve the invite. He is now on his way to Bengaluru, the venue for the 3rd and final T20I.

Kohli recently made his return to T20I cricket after a 14-month hiatus, playing in the series against Afghanistan.

Despite missing the opening match for personal reasons, Kohli returned for the second T20I in Indore, contributing 29 runs off 16 deliveries as India secured a 2-0 lead in the series. The final match is scheduled to take place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on January 17, where India aims for a clean sweep against Afghanistan.

The ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony holds great significance as it marks the ceremonial enthronement of Ram Lalla’s idol in the temple’s sanctum-sanctorum. The participation of cricketing icons adds a unique dimension to the cultural and religious events in Ayodhya.
