Yashasvi Jaiswal hasn’t kept a foot wrong in his Test career, scoring a resounding 545 runs in three Test matches against England. He has smashed two double hundreds. After scoring 209 runs in the first innings of the second Test, he amassed 214 not out in the Rajkot Test, both of which were won by India. Former India player Anil Kumble lauded the young batter and also made a special request for the remaining two games.

In the interaction on Sunday after India’s win by 434 runs at the Niranjan Shah Stadium, Kumble told Yashasvi to roll his arm over as a leg-spinner. The southpaw admitted that he was interested in bowling, and captain Rohit Sharma asked him to be ready to bowl some overs in the third Test.

“Well done on your batting. I saw your bowling and you should continue to bowl some overs. You have a nice action with the ball nicely coming out of your hand. Don’t give up on this talent as you don’t know when that will come handy for the team. Tell Rohit Sharma to give you some overs,” Kumble told Jaiswal on Jio Cinema.

“I like bowling. Rohit told me to be ready to bowl some overs, and I said yes, I am ready to chip in as a bowler,” Jaiswal responded.

He has taken 7 wickets at an economy of 5.41 in 13 List A innings. However, he has yet to open his wicket account in first-class cricket.

Yashasvi could come in handy along with Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel in the spin department. Meanwhile, he could break Virat Kohli’s record for the most runs by an Indian batter in the Test series against England. Kohli scored 655 runs in 2016-17.
