Dale Steyn has reacted to the reports of unrest in the Mumbai Indians camp, following the sacking of Rohit Sharma as captain and giving the captain’s armband to Hardik Pandya. The controversial move was not taken lightly by Rohit’s wife, Ritika Sajdeh, Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav, who expressed their disappointment differently.

Steyn, however, is sure that things will be alright as big players know how to put their egos aside while playing for a team.

“There are big personalities in the team. There might me a little bit problem which we might not know but the big players know how to put their egos aside and work for the common cause. i think Mumbai will be fine,” he said.

Hardik has joined the Mumbai Indians’ preseason camp. Rohit Sharma and other senior players haven’t reported yet. MI will play their first match against Gujarat Titans on March 24 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Steyn feels Hardik will have to face challenges while leading a team like Mumbai. “It will be challenging for Hardik Pandya. They should have organized the camp one month in advance to iron out things bothering the players,” he added,

Hardik left MI in 2022 after the franchise did not retain him. He had a successful two-year tenure with Gujarat. The franchisor won the title in the first season itself in 2022. They finished runners-up Hardik Pandya Mumbai Indians in 2023 after losing the final to Chennai Super Kings.
