India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin‘s daughters displayed their cricket knowledge in a viral video. In the clip, Ashwin quizzed his daughters on the ICC T20 World Cup trivia, leaving fans amazed by the young girls’ cricketing expertise.

Curious about the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Ashwin quizzed his daughters about the tournament details. The girls took the names of the host countries and correctly identified the West Indies captain.

Ashwin’s daughters knew the name of the Indian head coach and Shimron Hetmyer’s country of origin, but they were unsure of the cricketer’s exact hometown. The video showcasing their cricket knowledge has gone viral on social media, amassing over 300,000 likes on Instagram as of Friday morning.

They were unable to answer about the city which will host the group stage match between India and Pakistan. It was New York, Ashwin told them.

Despite his experience, R Ashwin was left out of India’s T20 World Cup squad, which instead featured a spin-heavy lineup of Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal. While some criticized this as an excessive number of spinners, chief selector Ajit Agarkar defended the decision, arguing that multiple spin options would be necessary to adapt to the low, slow pitches of the Caribbean islands hosting the tournament.

Ahead of their lone practice match against Bangladesh, the majority of the Indian squad has travelled to New York. On June 5, the team will face Ireland in the group stage.
