Prashanth Neel’s latest film Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire was released theatrically on December 22 last year. Headlined by Prabhas, the action-thriller minted over Rs 700 crore at the box office worldwide. Released in multiple languages, the Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions started streaming on Netflix on January 20 this year.

However, fans in the Hindi-speaking belt were left wondering when Salaar’s Hindi version would premiere on the OTT circuit. Putting a full stop to the anticipation, Disney Plus Hotstar on February 9 announced that the Prabhas starrer would finally arrive on the platform on February 16.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Disney Plus Hotstar revealed, “Tumne bulaya aur Salaar chala aaya (You called and Salaar arrived). Salaar In Hindi streaming from 16th Feb.” Along with the announcement came a video featuring various comments from movie enthusiasts demanding the release date of Salaar’s Hindi version on the OTT platform. Soon, the frame shifts to Prabhas, sporting his rugged avatar from the film saying a dialogue. The textual layout embedded inside asserted that the request of fans was finally fulfilled. The video also contained glimpses of Prabhas in action, packing some punches and taking on the enemies with his aggression.

Prabhas fans were over the moon upon the announcement and reacted to the post. “Hotstar game changer decision,” commented one individual. “Waah. Bring it on,” cheered another. Dropping a string of emojis a third user wrote, “Fire”.

Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire revolves around a fierce power struggle in the fictional town of Khansar. Riddled with gangsters and familial politics, the crux of the film is the bond between two friends-turned-foes who get embroiled in a power-hungry situation. Infused with violence, gory action sequences, and darl-toned grim premises, Salaar whipped up a positive response from the masses upon its inception. While Prabhas played the titular character, Prithviraj Sukumaran essayed the role of his friend Vardharaja Mannaar. The star-studded cast ensemble also included Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Tinnu Anand, Shrey Bhargava, and Dayanand Reddy.

Speaking of Prabhas, the actor is currently geared up for the release of director Nag Ashwin’s upcoming epic science-fiction dystopian film Kalki 2898 AD. The film which draws its inspiration from Hindu mythology also stars Deepika Padukone as the female lead. Kalki 2898 AD is slated to hit the silver screens on May 9.
