Jasprit Bumrah has been named in the Indian squad for the remaining three Tests against England. There were reports of him getting a rest for the third game, but the selectors have kept him on the team. He may get a much-needed break between the games like Mohammed Siraj was released after the opening Test in Hyderabad.

Former India player Aakash Chopra does not favour any kind of rest for the speedster. “Jasprit Bumrah shouldn’t be rested as he had enough rest after the ICC World Cup 2023. He was not in the team for one month. He missed the white-ball series in South Africa and returned for the two Tests against the Proteas,” Aakash Chopra said.

“He has played just two Test matches in India and bowled 60 overs. Don’t make him practice, but he should be there in the Playing XI. We need him for the games, and he should play all the Tests. Give him rest in the IPL but not in the upcoming games,” Aakash Chopra added.

Bumrah has taken 15 wickets in the first two matches, with 9 coming in the second. He was named the Player of the Match for helping India win the game by 106 runs. His six-wicket haul in the first innings of the Vizag game was instrumental.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has opted out of the three games for personal reasons. He is out of India due to some personal emergency. On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer has been dropped due to poor form. KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have been added to the squad, but their availability is subject to fitness.

The series is levelled 1-1, with England winning the Hyderabad Test by 28 runs.
