Heading into the IPL 2024 auction, Gujarat Titans are eyeing a crucial addition to their batting lineup, with cricket analyst Aakash Chopra suggesting the acquisition of a finisher like Shahrukh Khan.

Having released eight players and traded Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians, Titans boast a substantial purse of ₹38.15 crore, allowing them to secure up to eight players, including two foreigners.

Expressing his views in a YouTube video, Chopra emphasized the Titans’ need for added strength in their batting unit.

“They might face some batting issues. Wriddhiman Saha, Shubman Gill, and Sai Sudharsan form the top three. Having Kane Williamson is a positive addition. Following them are Vijay Shankar, Abhinav Manohar, David Miller, and Matthew Wade.”

“It seems fine, but it would be improved by adding one more batter. I believe they require a batsman similar to Shahrukh Khan, a finisher, to ensure readiness if Wriddhiman Saha encounters difficulties. In such a situation, they can utilize Sai Sudharsan or Kane Williamson as openers,” Chopra said.

In assessing the overseas players, Chopra envisioned Kane Williamson, David Miller, Rashid Khan, and either Noor Ahmad or a seamer forming the overseas quartet in the playing XI.

The former India opener recognized that the team might feel the absence of Hardik Pandya. Pandya played a dual role as a new-ball bowler and a middle-order batsman, making crucial contributions at positions four or five in the lineup. The Titans, equipped with a significant budget, are ready to strategically strengthen their squad for the upcoming IPL season.
