Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan recently shared insights into the potential conclusion of MS Dhoni‘s illustrious IPL career. Dhoni, who embarked on his IPL journey with CSK in 2008, has not only led the team to five IPL titles and two CL T20 victories but has also left an indelible mark on the league.

Known for his astute leadership and the ability to nurture young talent, Dhoni transformed CSK into an IPL powerhouse. Beyond the trophies and statistics, he redefined the role of a finisher, displaying match-winning chases and earning the moniker “Captain Cool” for his calm demeanor under pressure.

Despite knee surgery and ongoing rehabilitation at the age of 42, Dhoni has not confirmed whether IPL 2024 will mark his final act.

“Dhoni will make the decision himself. He hasn’t informed us yet, and it’s up to him. So far, he hasn’t given us any hints either,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said on JioCinema.

CSK head coach Stephen Fleming addressed the potential succession plan for Dhoni in the IPL 2024 auction, emphasizing that they have been contemplating this for a decade.

“We’ve had plans in place for MS for around 10 years. It’s going to be a topic of discussion, but he is as involved and excited as I’ve seen him in a while. With that passion for the team and franchise, we’ll keep moving forward,” he said.

As long as Dhoni graces the field, his legend in the IPL will endure, regardless of whether IPL 2024 becomes the final chapter of his remarkable journey.
