AP News – New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson entered record books against Papua New Guinea when he bowled the most economical spell in the ICC T20 World Cup history. He bowled four maiden overs and took three wickets without conceding a run against PNG in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Ferguson, who is one of the fastest pacers, dismissed Assad Vala (6), Charles Amini (17) and Chad Soper (1) in an unbelievable spell of fast bowling.

Earlier, New Zealand opted to bowl first against Papua New Guinea in their rain-delayed Twenty20 World Cup closing match on Monday.

Rain delayed the toss by an hour, and no overs were lost.

Both teams were already eliminated from Super Eight contention in Group C.

New Zealand lost to Afghanistan and the West Indies and has beaten only Uganda.

PNG has yet to win a game.

New Zealand made one change; wrist spinner Ish Sodhi came in for bowling allrounder James Neesham. PNG made two changes.
